B+ Supply

High voltage DC power is required for early model pre-B2/C2/RT/2 organs to power their internal preamp. The organ received this power from the Hammond tone cabinet, virtually requiring the customer to use the Hammond speaker. Leslie configured the 122 family of speakers to provide this voltage. If you have a Leslie other than one from the 122 family you need a way to supply power to the preamp. This unit will send B+ power (200 volts DC) to the preamp and free you from having to connect the tone cabinet to the organ. Unit is pre-wired and easy to install - requires no soldering. Simply attach the AC power input spade terminals to the AC screw terminals on the preamp, then attach the B+ and ground wires to the preamp B+ and GND screw terminals. Unplug the tone cabinet forever!

IMPORTANT NOTICE

All parts kits sold by Tonewheel General expect installation by a person with previous practice and skill in the art of soldering, component removal and installation. This person should also be familiar with safety practices and procedures that relate to high voltage tube amplifiers. These are not kits for first time projects.

We don't want your equipment to wind up in the shop, so please work with patience and care. We cannot supply a step-by-step process guide or give telephone/email support for an installation, other than for problems with the kit itself (missing or failed parts, for example).

It is possible to install these parts incorrectly and turn your device (and you) into a smoking pile of used parts. If you would like your amp repaired but feel insecure about proceeding, or have a partially completed project, Tonewheel General accepts amplifier and preamplifier patients on an hourly basis for diagnosis, evaluation and, if needed, either completion or autopsy.
